The Pipes & Drums
of the Royal Caledonian Society are fresh back from the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in
Edinburgh, Scotland 2007.
It may interest people to know that
bands that travel to the Edinburgh Tattoo do so at their own expense.
Members of the Society Band will be paying their own airfares to and from Scotland.
The Band has to ensure that the 'Dress Number 1 Uniforms',
are in top notch condition either through repairs and alterations or
purchasing new items. This is what makes for such a spectacular display.
Then there is the
transportation of uniforms, bagpipes and drums to and from
Scotland. It is easy to see why this endeavour costs many tens of
thousands of dollars to bring to fruition.
Fundraising and promotion by the
Band play an important part in sourcing the necessary funds for the
venture.
If you would like to to book a solo
piper or a Mini Band for any occasion, or you would like to make a donation
to the
Band, please contact the Band
Manager Alf Payne on 8387 1275 or 0413 319
