Scotland is renowned throughout the
world for its
traditional music which has remained vibrant throughout the 20th Century
and into the 21st Century,
when many other traditional forms worldwide lost popularity to the pop music
culture. In spite of emigration and a well-developed connection to music
imported from the rest of Europe and the United States, the music of
Scotland has kept many of its traditional aspects; indeed, it has itself
influenced many forms of music.
Have you ever heard a Scottish
tune that you know so well but wondered what the words were? Below you will find links to
the words of many well known and perhaps not so well known Scottish songs. Keep your
eye on this page for future updates.
Incidentally, the tune to "My Lodging's on the Cold, Cold Ground" is the same as the well known tune "Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms".
